We met with Bliss Roofing on August 1. The start date is August 28th.  They expect it to take 2-3 weeks.

They may be bringing some equipment and doing some test work before that date.
They will do two sides at a time and they will have the skylights covered for protection.
We will experience some darkness and there will be some equipment around on the weekends, but they will try to minimize our Sunday impact.

ChalkboardwithYellowandRedChalkTwo Cents a Meal for July and August is Start Right School Supplies.

This mission is sponsored by volunteers from Clackamas County Department of Human Services, Prince of Life Lutheran Church and other area churches.  The Start Right project provides school supplies to income qualified families referred by their case workers.  The number of children in foster care in Clackamas County totals 191 ages 0 to 5 years, 131 ages 6 to 12 years, and 124 ages 13 years to 18 years.  Low income children in Clackamas County number 11,629.  Many of the children live in foster homes or with grandparents. We will collect for this mission on Sunday, August 6th.

Volunteers buy items that are still needed after the donated supplies are inventoried.  Last year 1,450 children from kindergarten through high school were served.  A volunteer will meet with Jeanie early in August to pick up the supplies and a check for donated funds.  There is a well marked box for the school supplies plus a supply list on the table in the Mission room.  Last year we donated the box full plus many sacks of school supplies and a generous check to this mission. Thank you so much for your help.

ClackamasServiceCenterIt has been three weeks since the fire on Monday, July 3rd, damaged the main building at the Service Center.  Services were closed for a short time then were reopened using temporary equipment.

For over 40 years the Service Center has helped members of the community who are in need.  CSC goal is to help support families through food, clothing or other needed items and to help families keep their housing or assist in finding different housing, jobs or what is needed to be self-sufficient.  The out-pouring of support from the community since the fire has been incredible. CSC has raised $9,408.30 toward the goal of $20,000. to clean up the fire damage.  The volunteer board that operates the Center will be making decisions about what to do about repairs or changes that might better serve those in need in the community. We will be using the Two-Cents-A-Meal donations this Fall to help with the rebuilding of the Center and the continued service to those in need in our community.
